Welcome/Introductions

2020/2021 Changes from OCBE

No visitors will be permitted into the building; this includes room parents.

• Update from Kentucky PTA regarding virtual meetings and voting
o Kentucky PTA has not yet approved virtual voting, but hopes to have an amendment to the rules in place by the end of August.
o 2020/2021 Budget still needs to be voted on and approved.

• Wednesday Folder sponsorship
o PTA has partially sponsored Wednesday folders in past years with $150 from the Educational Enhancement budget.
o Kristin will reach out to Principal Hackmiller to determine whether Wednesday Folders will be distributed to students like past years.

• Staff t-shirt sponsorship
o Staff t-shirts may be ordered from Hospitality Budget. Kristin and/or Becky will reach out to Amanda Howard to refer her to a vendor.

• Classroom Library funds
o $15,000 was approved for Classroom Libraries last year and the check was written.

2020/2021 Brainstorming

• Virtual Fundraising
o Virtual Hustle was discussed, including the possibility of extending events over the course of a week and/or dedicating students’ PE time to events in addition to virtual participation options. Target timeline would be mid to late September.
o Online payments will be preferred, as it is likely that checks/money payments will be restricted under COVID-19 protocols.
o Virtual fundraising through MemberHub is available to the PTA. Julie will investigate, as well as explore the Get Moving platform for virtual fundraising.
o Providing tents for outdoor seating for teachers and students was discussed.
o PTA marketing for fundraising was discussed.
o Kristen and/or Julie will talk to Principal Hackmiller about the possibility of distributing tshirts or medals to students under current protocols.

• Virtual Family Engagement Programs
o Facebook Pumpkin Decorating Contest was discussed as a replacement for the traditional Harmony Harvest.
o Virtual 5K/Fun-Run was discussed, including the possibility of t-shirts and “choose your activity” alternatives.
o Family engagement programs will include VLA families.

• Virtual Student Programs
o Virtual assemblies were discussed. Kristin will reach out to Drama by George regarding virtual assembly and will explore grant availability.
o Mental health webinars were discussed.
o Harvest-themed online games and activities were discussed, including scavenger hunts, crafts, virtual games, family service projects, and viral video challenges.

Open discussion

• PTA Membership
o National PTA’s “How do you PTA?” campaign was discussed.

• Hospitality
o Back-to-school ideas were discussed, including food trucks, first day decorations, and teacher breakfast options.
o It was noted that food trucks may also provide fundraising opportunities throughout the year.

• Room Parents
o Room Parent logistics under COVD-19 protocols were discussed.
o Kristin will follow up with Principal Hackmiller regarding Room Parents for 2020/2021 school year.

• Supply Kits
o Supply Kits will arrive the week of August 3rd. Jessy will report back concerning how many volunteers will be permitted to assist in distributing supply kits to classrooms.

• Landscaping
o Becky will reach out to Principal Hackmiller regarding inviting service project team’s on campus for landscaping.

Adjournment
• Jessy moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:53 PM, which Becky seconded, and the meeting was adjourned.
